Jon Macdonald

Jon Macdonald is a senior insurance executive, risk governance expert and CEO coach with over three decades of experience advising and leading at the highest levels of the global financial services industry. He has served as Group Chief Risk Officer for a range of organisations, from high-growth start-ups to multinational insurers, including Royal London, RSA Insurance Group and Prudential, and has held senior roles at PwC, Aviva, Swiss Re and Zurich.

A former executive board director of a FTSE 100–scale business, Jon has led complex, enterprise-wide risk transformations across global organisations, safeguarding balance sheets of up to $250 billion in assets and sponsoring strategic change programmes of up to $300 million.

Over the course of his career, he has supported and advised more than 1,000 C-suite leaders, bringing clarity, perspective and measured judgement to high-stakes decision-making.

Jon is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and is widely recognised for his expertise in insurance regulation, capital management and enterprise risk management. His insights have been featured in leading industry publications, including the Financial Times and Risk Magazine, and he has received recognition for his contribution to advancing risk leadership and governance practices.

Alongside his technical and executive credentials, Jon brings a distinctive human dimension to his work. A mindfulness practitioner and meditation teacher for more than 30 years, he integrates presence, precision and deep listening into his leadership approach - helping individuals and organisations navigate technical complexity with confidence, resilience and clarity.
